Introduction
The Article 13 Initiative (A13I) is a project being organized by Five Minutes to Midnight (FMM). The project aims to provide organizations, governments, and youth groups with the technology and expertise required to run local media projects.
A13I takes its name from Article 13.1 of the Convention on the Rights on the Child, which states,
The child shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of the child's choice.
A13I takes this message to heart. By promoting the use of open source software and building on FMM's experience with media development, it strives to give young people the ability to share their ideas, opinions, and stories. Be it a newspaper or website, A13I can help develop such projects for all purposes.
