Facilitators -Are you looking to challenge yourself while making a positive impact in your community?
If you a youth leader between the ages of 16-25, then the YIA Network may be for you! Youth interested in joining the YIA Network
are trained in facilitation and project management, attend a camp retreat and shadow other youth facilitators in preparation to facilitate
their own project at a local community centre. Generally, facilitators work in teams of 2-3 and lead community projects that are needed
by the community.
Facilitator Requirements: o Ages 16 to 25 o Demonstrates a strong foundation of leadership skills o Committed to working on a 6 to 8 month community service project Please contact: Stephanie, esubject@interchange.ubc.ca Mentors - YIA is looking for high school students in grades 9-12 to support and mentor elementary school students in grade 7. Mentors will be matched with a student and must be available during the allotted mentorship time (see below for specific times at each community centre). Mentors and mentees will participate in group out trips, facilitated workshops, and athletic games. Mentor Requirements: o Presently in grade 9-12 o Responsible and respectful who will act as positive role models o Enjoys working with youth ages 12-13 o Has leadership skills or is looking to enhance his or her leadership skills Strathcona YIA Leadership 7
